Customer reviews of the Dyson V10 cordless stick vacuum cleaner give it a high rating since it makes dirt become invisible. The downside is the price and …
The Dyson V10 vacuum cleaner has three versions: Dyson V10 Absolute, Animal, and Motorhead. The basic functions of each version are similar to each other but they have different attachments and dust bin size.
The Motorhead comes with basic attachments and the smallest dust bin. The Absolute and Dyson V10 Animal are almost the same, except the Absolute has more attachments. Because of these differences, the price between them ranges greatly, depending on which version you get.
How Does the Dyson V10 Clean?
The V10 comes with two vacuum heads, a soft roller head and a motorized brushroll.
The soft roller is best used for cleaning hard floors to avoid scratching, especially on hardwood. It also provides a bonus of polishing your floors while cleaning it. The motor brushroll has hard bristles that help to lift up dirt. This head is best used when you’re cleaning carpets.
With the suction power and heads, the V10 can satisfyingly clean both bare floors and carpets.
It comes with a dust bin that’s 40% larger than its predecessor, the V8. The difference is that it’s easier to empy the dust bin into a trash bag or garbage collector than before. But because of this design, you’ll need to remove any attachments before you can empty the vacuum.
Is It Good for Cleaning Carpets?
The V10 is a beast for carpet cleaning, able to perform almost perfectly on low and medium-pile carpets and very well on high-pile ones. With normal operation (at a medium suction setting), the vacuum cleans various debris, such as food stuff and sandy materials, making it not visible at all.
The same results can be achieved on high-pile carpets when you increase the suction power of the motorized brush to the highest setting. Note that if you’re cleaning larger sized debris, such as cereal, it’s recommended to use the normal suction power.
Is It Good for Bare Floors?
Similar to it’s performance on carpets, this Dyson excellently cleans bare and hardwood floors for various debris. The difference is that for larger debris, particularly cereal, the vacuum might get jammed if you clean it very fast. But it doesn’t happen in most cases.
How Loud Is It?
The V10 is considered as a loud vacuum. It doesn’t reach the point where you need ear muffs or plugs (though some people wear them regardless of the noise level). However, at 78 dB on the highest suction power, it’s loud enough to disturb other family members doing their activities.
How Long is the Battery Life?
Being a cordless stick vacuum that uses a battery for power, the Dyson can run up to 60 minutes if you use normal suction power. When you raise the power, the battery life shortens dramatically, allowing for less than 30 minutes of operation. Though shorter, this duration should be enough to tackle any tough spots like accidental spills and you can return to normal suction to save energy.
What Do You Get With the V10?
The attachments and accessories that you get include:
- Soft roller head
- Motorized brushroll head
- Crevice tool
- Dusting brush
The downside to the Dyson V10 is that it’s expensive, simple as that. It gives you a powerful device that is efficient for cleaning both floors and carpets, and comes with a set of many attachments. Because of it’s performance, the V10 is our number one cordless vacuum.
