The ILIFE V3s is an affordable robot vacuum cleaner that is best used for bare floors and low-pile carpets, but not thick or high-pile carpets. The strengths of this bot is that it can handle cleaning most household needs, including pet hair, though it’s not specifically made for pet hair.
The V3s doesn’t have many advanced features compared to its competitors. However, owners of this model like it for its simplicity. It’s a no-fuss, plug and play robot vacuum that can do a very good job of keeping your house clean.
Is It Good for Cleaning Floors?
Being a robot vacuum, the ILIFE is designed mostly for floors. Due to the compact design, around 7.6 cm in height, and also the light weight at around 4.4 lbs, the V3s can maneuver around easily without risking scratching or marking your precious floors.
It can tackle various types of floors, including laminate, hardwood, and other bare floors.
It has sensors that prevent the vacuum from falling down stairs or bumping into walls, allowing for safe navigation. However, it doesn’t include virtual walls so you will need to set physical boundaries if you don’t want it to enter or clean a certain area.
Similar to other robot vacuums, the V3s has three cleaning modes. Spot Mode for tackling a tough spot, Edge Mode for cleaning along wall edges and paths, and Auto Mode for automatic cleaning within the boundary area.
Is It Good for Cleaning Carpets?
This model can climb up carpets up to 15 mm (0.6 inches) in height. If you have a carpet or rug that is thicker than that, then the unit can get stuck trying to climb it or turn away based on navigation.
There are ILIFE models that come with a carpet boost mode. It means the vacuum has a higher suction power when it detects carpet surfaces, allowing for deeper cleaning. However, the V3s doesn’t come with this feature, it uses the same suction for both bare floors and carpets, around 850 Pa pressure.
Therefore, it’s best to remove carpets thicker than 15 mm and other obstacles that might get in the way (such as cords) to ensure the V3s runs smoothly in your home.
How Long is the Battery Life?
The vacuum comes with a rechargeable Lithium battery that can run for up to 140 minutes. It takes around five hours to charge the battery, so beware of that if you plan to use the vacuum for critical cleaning tasks.
With 140 minutes of run time, the vacuum can clean up around 1,200 sq ft of space, enough for a small home or apartment with one charge. The dirt bin can carry 300 mL of dust, which is not too large but still capable of holding the dirt in one run. You will need to empty the bin after each use.
As with most robot vacuums, the docking station must be placed in an open are with 3 ft of space on the side and 6 ft on the front of it. The V3s will automatically return to the dock once it detects low battery levels. However, once it recharges, it doesn’t resume cleaning so you will need to start it again.
How Loud Is It?
The ILIFE V3s emits around 55 dB of noise, which is a similar noise level to human conversation. That should be low enough to not disturb your family’s activities in the house.
What Do You Get With the ILIFE V3S?
- Cleaning tool
- HEPA filters
- 2 side brushes
- Charging dock
- Adapter
- Remote control
The fact that it has a built-in HEPA filtration system makes the V3s a good choice for people who have allergy or asthma issues. The filter consists of a pre-filter and post-filter, making it a filter system that can trap allergens. You can wash the filters for reuse, but after some time, you will need to replace them to ensure cleanliness of your home.
Unfortunately the ILIFE V3s, including the Pro version, doesn’t have Wi-Fi connectivity. You can operate it using a remote control, but not using an app on your phone or Amazon Alexa.
The ILIFE V3s Pro is an upgrade to the V3s model. The difference is that the run time is longer, up to two hours, versus one and a half hours on the normal model. It means you can clean a larger surface area with the Pro version compared to the normal one.
