- Shark Navigator Freestyle
Here is the summary of each model:
#1 Best Upright Vacuum Cleaner for Carpet – Hoover WindTunnel Max UH30600
Our rating: 3.7/5
The most versatile upright vacuum for carpet is the Hoover WindTunnel Max. It has a 7-height adjustment feature that makes it optimal to clean many types of surfaces. It has a switch that turns the brush on and off so you can change it when cleaning carpets or bare floors. This vacuum is a bagged vacuum so you will need to buy filter bags for it. It weighs around 15 lbs, making it not as lightweight as other vacuums.
The seven settings work by turning a knob on the vacuum head. The lowest setting is for bare floors; the second setting is for low pile or medium pile carpets. The higher settings are for high pile or deep pile carpets. You can use this setting for plush or even frieze carpets.
What customers don’t like about this vacuum is that sometimes it’s difficult to clean deep pile carpets using it. Other than that, the plastic construction makes it feel ‘cheap’ and won’t last long. Despite the complaints, the Hoover WindTunnel gets the highest mark from us due to its versatility and affordable price tag.
#2 Best Upright Bagless Vacuum for Carpet – Bissell CleanView 1330
Our Rating: 4.5/5
The Bissell CleanView 1330 is the best bagless vacuum for carpet. It comes with a 5-height adjustment feature. It’s not as many as the Hoover WindTunnel, but it still gets the job done well. Similar to the Hoover, the first setting on the Bissell is for cleaning bare floors or low pile carpets. The highest setting is for cleaning high pile carpets.
What users don’t like about the Bissell is that there is no switch to turn off the brush roll. The brush roll should be turned off when cleaning bare floors. The vacuum isn’t lightweight – it weighs the same as the Hoover above. Although there are some complaints, the Bissell gets a favorable rating from users and us because it is very affordable and powerful.
Our Rating: 4.2/5
The Shark Navigator Freestyle is the best lightweight upright vacuum for cleaning carpets. However, it only has two height settings and a switch to turn off the brush roll. It doesn’t have as many settings as the Hoover or the Bissell, but it weights at 7 lbs – half as much as the other two above! If you want a lightweight vacuum, this one is as light as they come.
The two settings consist of low and high setting. The low setting is for cleaning bare floors, while the high setting is for cleaning carpets. Users like this vacuum because it is light and cordless, but some people don’t like it because it is cordless (uses batteries). Some users say the battery can lose charge quickly and the vacuum loses suction power over time. Though there are some drawbacks, the light weight and affordability of this vacuum make it a good consideration.
